Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools such as ChatGPT have already become part of everyday university life. Students use them for literature research, writing, or idea generation. For faculty, this raises the question of how to continue recognizing genuine academic work and ensuring fair assessment.

To address this new reality, we rely on an innovative, privacy-compliant solution: Mentafy.

Mentafy accompanies the academic writing process and offers benefits for both students and faculty. It is important to us to explain transparently why we use Mentafy and how it works.

What Mentafy does – and does not do

• No keylogging, no surveillance: Mentafy does not record every keystroke. It analyzes saved drafts and documents digital research activity.
• No access to deleted content: Mentafy does not store the full version history, only metadata for documenting and analyzing the writing process.
